What’s with all the Haiku?

it’s an addiction

Regular readers of the Random Thought Archive have probably noticed the plethora of haiku over the last year. Inquisitive minds want to know: what’s with that?

Indeed. Well…first of all, I feel compelled to point out that not all of it is really haiku, since those require the mention of a season and the evocation of lonliness or solitude.

Having avoided the question for a moment, I suppose I have to answer now. I believe that it is a by-product of my emotional awakening…and the events that led to / sprang from it.

I’ve changed. I am not the same person that I was two years ago. This haiku mania is a quirky and fun side effect of this transformation.

opening
my heart feels again
pleasure, pain

my thoughts and feelings
escape in three measured lines
I do not resist

be in the moment
live without expectations
it will come out right

meditate
search your feelings, friend
truth is there

and I did write all of those as I was sitting here and typing…they were not prepared ahead of time!
